Task

Traffic noise masks one word in a sentence.

Weak approach Plays the stretch four times, writes the timestamp beside it, and keeps every clear word around it. Then fills the gap with 'report', because that is what the sentence seems to want. The transcript now reads as if the word was heard, and nothing on it says otherwise.

Stronger approach Mark that stretch unclear at its timestamp, and keep the words around it.

Why the stronger approach works Both transcribers timed the gap and neither invented a sentence. One of them still turned a doubt into a word, and the doubt is gone from the file.
