A fee to start, an unpaid batch called a test, or a rush to decide: any one is enough. Check the organisation's own page and the sending address, never the message. Report it on the national cybercrime portal, and keep the screenshots first. Task A message offers data work for an AI company and asks for a deposit that it says is returnable.
Weak approach Paying the deposit because the message carried a company logo and an office address.
Stronger approach No money is sent. The company's own site is opened and carries no such listing. The sender's address is a free mail account. The report goes to the portal with screenshots.
Why the stronger approach works The logo and the address were copied in a minute. The company's own page and the sender's address could not be.
Try a changed situation This time nobody wrote to you. A caller says she is from a well-known AI company. She offers work if you pay a small joining amount today.
Make something yourself Write up one suspicious offer you or somebody near you received. Say what it asked for, the three checks you ran and what each showed, and where you reported it.
