You will learn to
Sort an assistant's answers into what you can act on now and what must be confirmed at the official source first.
Why this matters
Some wrong answers cost nothing and some cost a day of travel, a rejected form or a missed date. The cost, not the confidence, decides what has to be checked.
Three things to remember
- Money, health, law and documents go to the official source first.
- Ask what it costs you if this answer turns out wrong.
- Name the office or page that is allowed to decide it.
See one example
An assistant lists the papers needed for a scholarship form and adds the last date.
Try the judgement yourself
Both answers respond to the task above. One of them does the job better. Which, and why?
Make something yourself
Write down three things an assistant told you this week. Beside each, write whether you can act on it now or must confirm it first, and name the office, shop or page that decides.
