How to read the scale
Each rule below is scored from 0 to 5. Three points carry a written line: 0, 3 and 5. Work that sits between two of them takes the point in between.
A reviewer records one of three marks. This is the whole mapping:
Not met — 0 or 1
Partly — 2 or 3
Met — 4 or 5

A wholesale dealer in Bhilwara forwards an assistant's working on WhatsApp and asks whether to trust it. The question: a distributor receives 36 cartons of 24 packets. In 3 of the cartons, 5 packets each are damaged. The good packets go to shops in lots of 12. How many full lots? The assistant's six steps end with 66. Grade the working step by step.

The grade names the first wrong step, the rule it broke, and the step that belonged there, and then stops.

First wrong step: step 2. Rule broken: use the quantity the question gives. The question says 5 damaged packets in each of 3 cartons, not 3 whole damaged cartons.

Falls short, and where

Worked it myself first: 864 packets, 15 damaged, 849 good, 849 ÷ 12 = 70 full lots with 9 left. The assistant says 66, so the answer is wrong.

Step 2 counts whole cartons as damaged, 72 instead of 15. The rule it breaks is reading the question: 5 per carton, not the carton. It should be 3 × 5 = 15.
